Language and Child Care

Language and Child Care

As an employer in the Child Care sector, you undoubtedly understand the importance of effective communication within your team. Especially when it comes to foreign-speaking group helpers and pedagogical staff who come to work in a Dutch environment. It is crucial that they have the right level of Dutch to communicate effectively with colleagues, parents and the children.

Taal en Kinderopvang, part of our proven concept Via taal naar een baan, is an intensive language training program to prepare foreign-language group aides and pedagogical staff for the linguistic challenges they may encounter while working in the Netherlands. With this method, they can improve their language skills from level A2 to B2, so they are better able to communicate in a Dutch environment.

The program offers:

  • Per training 20 contact lessons of 2.5 hours (50 hours per training), including exercises and practical situations relevant to daily practice. These classes can be scheduled 2 to 4 times per week.
  • As a (future) employer, job intermediary or municipality, you can ensure that foreign-language group helpers and pedagogical staff have access to this training, so that they can prepare themselves for working in your organization. By supporting them in improving their language skills, you contribute to better communication and cooperation.

Childcare Development Pathway
The child care sector is facing major staff shortages. A total of about 6,000 employees are in demand. The Childcare Development Pathway is a customized pathway that helps potential candidates develop in childcare practice. It enables entry and progression for a broader group of candidates (employed and job seekers). For example, candidates with no prior education requirements can start as a group helper and, if they are willing and able, further develop into a pedagogical employee.
